Every October, “pumpkin patch Oregon” becomes one of the most-searched fall phrases in the state, and it’s easy to see why. The Willamette Valley is one of the most productive farm regions in the West, and from Sauvie Island to the Rogue Valley, family farms turn their fields into weekend festivals with U-pick pumpkins, corn mazes, hayrides and apple cider donuts. This guide rounds up the best pumpkin patches in Oregon, region by region, so you can find a good one near you, whether you live in Portland, Salem, Eugene, Bend or Medford. Every farm listing includes its address (tap it for directions), phone number and website, so you can call ahead or check hours before you go.

When Is Pumpkin Patch Season in Oregon?

Most Oregon pumpkin patches open in mid- to late September and run through Halloween. A few stay open into the first days of November to sell off the last of the crop. Peak season is the first three weekends of October, which is also when fall colors light up the Columbia River Gorge and the Cascade foothills. That makes it a great time for a day trip.

Weekday visits and early weekend mornings are noticeably calmer. Many of the busiest farms near Portland now use timed-entry or online tickets on October weekends, so check a farm’s website before you load up the car. Plan for Oregon weather as well. After the first fall rains, fields get muddy fast, so rubber boots and a change of socks for the kids will save the day.

Best Pumpkin Patches Near Portland

The Portland metro area has the highest concentration of pumpkin patches in the state. Searches for a Portland pumpkin patch spike as soon as September ends, and most of them land on one place first: Sauvie Island.

1. Sauvie Island farms — Portland’s classic pumpkin patch

About 20–30 minutes from downtown Portland · Multnomah County

Sauvie Island sits where the Willamette meets the Columbia, and it is the home of several of Oregon’s best-known fall farms. The Pumpkin Patch on Sauvie Island is a Portland tradition going back decades. It has a big U-pick field, hayrides, a corn maze and a farm market. Bella Organic is known for a large, themed corn maze that runs after dark in October, along with an organic market and cider. Topaz Farm (formerly Kruger’s) is more laid-back, with a farm stand, a grill and live music, and it uses timed weekend tickets to keep crowds manageable. The one road onto the island backs up on October Saturdays, so arrive early or go on a weekday.

2. Plumper Pumpkin Patch — northwest Portland

Inside the Portland area, off Northwest Portland’s west hills · Multnomah County

Plumper Pumpkin Patch covers about 65 acres and has a long list of activities: pumpkin cannons, an obstacle course, a hobbit-style house, farm animals and a big pumpkin field. It’s a favorite for families with younger kids because it’s close in and packs a lot into one visit. It usually opens in mid-September and runs into early November.

3. Roloff Farms — Helvetia, near Hillsboro

Near Hillsboro · Washington County

Fans of TV’s Little People, Big World know Roloff Farms, and its pumpkin season draws visitors from across the Northwest. The farm has wagon tours, walking trails and themed attractions on a large property in the rolling Helvetia countryside. Tickets are usually sold online in advance, so check before you go.

Lee Farms in Tualatin is a multi-generation family farm known for growing dozens of pumpkin varieties and for its fresh pumpkin donuts. Hoffman Farms near Beaverton combines a sizable corn maze with a miniature railroad ride through the fields. Tualatin is also home to the West Coast Giant Pumpkin Regatta, usually held in mid-October, where costumed paddlers race hollowed-out giant pumpkins across the lake.

5. Yesteryear Farms — Wilsonville

Wilsonville · Clackamas County

Yesteryear Farms has become one of the most-searched pumpkin patches in Oregon this season. There’s no charge to walk the patch, pumpkins are priced by size instead of by weight, and the variety is huge, from classic jack-o’-lanterns to Cinderellas, white pumpkins and warty goblins. A ticketed corn maze of about eight acres stays open late on Friday and Saturday nights. It’s an easy stop off I-5 for both Portland and Salem families.

Also near Portland

Fazio Farms, inside Portland city limits, has a corn maze and goats, but sells pre-picked pumpkins rather than running a U-pick field. In St. Helens, where the movie Halloweentown was filmed, the downtown Spirit of Halloweentown festival runs on October weekends. It isn’t a farm, but it’s one of the most popular fall outings in the state.

Salem and Mid-Willamette Valley Pumpkin Patches

The Willamette Valley grows much of the state’s farm produce, so families around Salem, Albany and Corvallis have plenty of choices.

6. Bauman’s Farm & Garden — Gervais

Between Woodburn and Salem in Gervais · Marion County

Bauman’s is one of the most popular choices for anyone searching for a Salem pumpkin patch. Its fall Harvest Festival is large and well organized, with a corn maze, play areas, food, a giant pumpkin weigh-off and a cider event. The farm market and bakery are worth the trip on their own.

7. Bose Family Farm — Albany

Albany · Linn County

Bose Family Farm holds its Harvest Festival on Fridays and weekends from late September into early November. Expect a corn maze of about four acres, a patch with roughly 35 pumpkin varieties and, on some dates, tethered hot-air balloon rides. It’s a top pick for anyone searching “pumpkin patch Albany Oregon.”

8. Corvallis-area farms

Around Corvallis · Benton County

Davis Family Farm has hayrides out to the patch, a corn maze and a hay pyramid. The Melon Shack adds train rides, a big slide and a haunted maze on weekend nights. Both make an easy afternoon trip for Oregon State families.

Eugene-Area Pumpkin Patches

Searches for a Eugene pumpkin patch center on a handful of family farms north and south of the city, in the southern Willamette Valley.

9. Thistledown Farm — Junction City

River Road, about 20 minutes north of Eugene toward Junction City · Lane County

Thistledown Farm is a family-run farm that grows more than 75 crops. In fall it offers wagon rides out to its pumpkin patch, a corn maze, U-cut flowers and a market full of squash, pumpkins, bakery treats and weekend cider donuts. It’s one of the easiest pumpkin patches to reach from Eugene. (Note: the nearby Lone Pine Farms, long a local favorite, has closed and is no longer open to visitors.)

10. Northern Lights Christmas Tree Farm — Pleasant Hill

Southeast of Eugene · Lane County

“Northern Lights pumpkin patch” is one of the fastest-rising fall searches in Oregon right now. In October, this Christmas tree farm hosts Colonial Harvest Days with a pumpkin patch, a corn maze and evening events on select dates. Other Eugene-area favorites include Johnson Vegetable Farms, with U-pick pumpkins and an after-dark maze, and Detering Orchards near Harrisburg.

Central Oregon: Smith Rock Ranch

11. Smith Rock Ranch — Terrebonne

Near Redmond, about 30 minutes north of Bend · Deschutes County

Smith Rock Ranch may have the most dramatic setting of any pumpkin patch in Oregon, with the orange cliffs of Smith Rock State Park rising behind the fields. This working seed and hay farm has a U-pick patch, a new corn maze design each year, pumpkin cannons, a petting zoo, a barrel train, barnyard mini-golf and a harvest market with local honey and jams. Dogs aren’t allowed in the maze. Bend also hosts its downtown Bend Fall Festival each year in early October, so a Central Oregon fall weekend can easily include both.

Southern Oregon Pumpkin Patches

Thanks to the warm, dry valleys of Southern Oregon, pumpkin season here is often sunny well into October.

12. Fort Vannoy Farms — Grants Pass

Grants Pass · Josephine County

Fort Vannoy Farms on the Rogue River is the region’s biggest fall farm, with a pumpkin patch of about 23 acres, an eight-acre corn maze, a cow train, a pumpkin cannon and a petting zoo. On select October nights it runs “23 Screams,” a haunted corn maze for older kids and adults. It’s the clear favorite when people search for a pumpkin patch in Grants Pass.

13. Medford and Central Point farms

Around Medford and Central Point · Jackson County

Pheasant Fields Farm in Medford holds an October harvest festival with a corn maze, kids’ trains and an after-dark event. Bigham Farms in Central Point has a corn maze, hayrides and a big farm stand. Farther north, the farms around Roseburg and Winchester in Douglas County, shown in the photo above, fill the Umpqua Valley with orange every fall.

14. Klamath Falls pumpkin patches

Klamath Falls · Klamath County

“Pumpkin patch Klamath Falls” is another fast-rising search this month. The Pumpkin Haus offers a U-pick patch priced by weight, a corn maze and an apple orchard. Smaller family patches around the Klamath Basin open mainly on October weekends, and their schedules change from year to year. Check their social media pages before you drive out.

The Hood River County Fruit Loop is a 35-mile scenic drive past orchards, farm stands and wineries. In October, many stops sell pumpkins along with fresh apples and pears. The Hood River Valley Harvest Fest, held each October on the Hood River waterfront, makes it an easy fall day trip from Portland. With Mount Hood in the background, it’s one of the most scenic fall drives in the state. You can find more ideas in our Visit Oregon guide.

Tips for Visiting an Oregon Pumpkin Patch

  • Book ahead on October weekends. The most popular farms near Portland often sell timed tickets online, and the best time slots sell out.
  • Dress for mud. Boots, layers and a rain shell are standard pumpkin patch gear in Oregon.
  • Bring a wagon and a card. Most farms take cards, but some small stands are cash-only. U-pick pumpkins may be priced by weight or by size.
  • Check pet rules. Many farms don’t allow dogs, especially in corn mazes and food areas.
  • Pick sturdy pumpkins. Look for a firm, green stem and no soft spots. Carry pumpkins from the bottom, not by the stem.
  • Make a day of it. Combine the patch with a nearby small town, a waterfall hike or a wine-country lunch. Our guide to the best small towns in Oregon has ideas.
